We have fine tuned the system and have gathered a lot of data. With this information we are taking spam detection to a new level.Stan Fisherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14622841932632709915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4560344962469853602.post-9840063101359053832011-06-22T21:05:00.000-07:002011-10-14T23:30:21.513-07:00Killing Spam Submissions on Web Contact FormsGemini Web Development is working on a tool to keep annoying spam submissions from being sent from your favorite web form. The most common method to prevent form spam is CAPTCHA. You have no doubt had to enter a series of characters seen in an image to successfully submit a form. No doubt CAPTCHA works, but can frustrate human users as well as spam robots. The more effective images are not readable and may need to be refreshed multiple times by a human user. Simple CAPTCHA images are easy to read, so easy that they have been rendered ineffective by spammers using automatic optical character recognition techniques. We are working on a different method. All I'm going to say is that has been quite successful to this point.Stan Fisherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14622841932632709915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4560344962469853602.post-78413803119278640862011-06-16T11:40:00.000-07:002011-06-16T11:40:16.623-07:00Creating a Facebook Business Page is EasyDoes your business have a facebook page?
Some Advice:

1. Use strong passwords, especially where your email address is used as your username. Strong passwords include letters (upper and lower case), numbers and special characters such as [^!#$@%{}].

Passwords with randomly selected characters are even better. I have added a web page to generate random character passwords under the Tools link at gemwebdev.com.

Another technique involves creating an easy-to-remember sentence like: "My dog is named Spot.". Then use the first letter of each word in the sentence to create the password. In this case it would be "mdinS". That isn't the greatest password, but using longer sentences and exchanging numbers for letters with a special character at the end can be used to
create strong memorable strings.

2. Never use "password" as a password. Believe it or not it is a fairly common practice.

3. If you have the ability to choose a username, make the username something that is difficult to guess. This makes it a little more difficult to gain access to an account.

4. Don't use the same username and password on multiple websites, accounts or networks. This is a common, but risky practice. If one is compromised, they all are.

5. Store your various passwords in a password protected application such as Password Corral.Stan Fisherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14622841932632709915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4560344962469853602.post-38574613525688257472009-09-24T20:57:00.000-07:002009-09-24T21:09:24.178-07:00New Web Site Development: 20% Off Coupon good until October 30, 200920% Discount Coupon
